Why do I get heartburn when I eat chocolate lately?

I never used to but now even one piece usually gives me heartburn. I love chocolate so this is quite upsetting. What else could be going on here?

It’s usually hard to pinpoint why stomachs start reacting to things you’ve previously had no trouble with.
Chocolate has caffeine in it. Are you bothered by caffeinated soda or coffee? I’d suggest stopping the chocolate, but I know how hard that can be
Maybe try a different brand of chocolate…I’m thinking the higher the quality the less it may affect you.
Maybe try eating it when you have a full stomach, or with something else (and not more pieces of chocolate…lol) Try eating it at different times of the day. I can eat peanut butter all day, but if I have it in the evening, I get heartburn. Go figure.
If it persists, or other foods cause it, you might want to see your doctor to rule out any stomach related things like reflux.
Good luck!!

In looking at your screen name…how old is the baby and did this start after she was born?
im not sure but maybe its your body telling you that you’re getting too much sugar? i’m sorry, but i’d lay off the chocolate a little and eat raisins instead as they’re healthy and yummy! if you’re worried, go and see a doctor!
good luck

You may need to talk to your doctor about acid reflux disease. My cousin had it, and certain foods (like chocolate which has caffeine) triggered acid reflux or heartburn. You may have to cut off certain things like pork, caffeine, and spicy food. OR maybe try tums next time!
